Currently running a small business that incorporates various elements of my acquired skills, talents and abilities. Researched business structures, sought advice from Small Business councilor, attended business class, completed various paperwork. Located area storefront to set up studio, design office and personal event gallery space close to my home to be available in order to maintain vital balance with my family and my work. Provide illustration, graphic design, mural services and periodic solo shows displaying various mediums of artwork. Utilized gallery space for the SE Area ARTWalk 2005 to introduce my business to SE Division St.

S.E. Area ARTWalk ~ S.E. Portland, Oregon - Director Sept. 2004 - Present
Developed plan of local area artwalk from beginning through completion. Collected contact information of artists, handled outreach, conducted application process, facilitated group meetings, coordinated host/storefront locations, problem solved and worked closely with Co-director. Organized council of individuals to form a decision making body and set up committees to handle public relations, outreach, publicity, promotion, budgeting, advertising, orientation, material distribution and signage details. Developed partnerships with Neighborhood Associations, Business Associations, neighborhood hosts, business owners, and community organizations for support, publicity and public relations. Coordinated orientation for artists to provide information, prepare for the event, meet and brainstorm ideas for further enhancement of the ARTWalk event. Created promotional material involved in coordinating elements for a 2-day exhibition of 51 artists at 36 different locations in S.E. Portland. Conducted evaluation of event targeting visitors and artists to gain information to improve the coordination for future event.

Friendly House, Inc. ~ NW Portland, Oregon - Graphic Design Assistant Sept. 1997- June 1999
In charge of design work for 6 programs in a private, non-profit social service agency. Worked in conjunction with program directors to produce flyers, promotional material, auction catalog for primary fund-raiser, quarterly Community Center newsletter, monthly Senior Center newsletter, office forms, and signage. Office work including answering phones and operating copy, fax, postage and laminating machine.

West Hills Montessori School ~ SW Portland, OR - Teacher Assistant August 1994 - June 1995
Assisted main teacher in guiding twenty-four 3-6 year old children in Montessori classroom. Organized and maintained learning environment on a daily basis, individually oversaw lunchtime and playground time. In charge of art area and projects. Established free-lance account designing murals for teachers’ restrooms, main children’s bathrooms and laundry area. Led to further creative responsibilities and design work as office staff assistant.

Kinko’s ~ NW Portland, OR - Co-worker May 1993 - June 1994
Interacted with customers, processed orders, and ran computerized cash register in the NW copy center location. In charge of operating b/w & color copy machines, fax, and various finishing machines to complete orders. Greeted and assisted customers with the self-serve copy and computer areas. Handled restocking supplies and merchandise.

Minuteman Press ~ NE Portland, OR - Pre-press/ Camera Operator May - November 1991
Assisted owner with order taking, copying, supply ordering and phone correspondence. In charge of design, paste-up, layout, camera work, machine maintenance, and preparing plates for lead pressman. Handled finishing services and packaging of outgoing orders.
